Big Conversations, Little People: Raising ‘Woke’ Kids

Having the big conversations with the little folks in our lives.

Join Just Fair for this online conversation with experts who’ll share their thoughts, advice and experience.

Throughout 2024 Just Fair has been holding a series of conversations about our everyday rights with adults, on issues like equality, an adequate standard of living, and the environment.

But how do we have these conversations with the little folks in our lives? How do we navigate the difficult conversations around things like climate collapse, racism, and ablism with kids in a way that’s on their level, but is also honest?

During this curated conversation speakers will share some of their wisdom, and also try to answer some of the burning questions we're asking you to send through in advance.

Speakers include:

  • Jenny Ireland - Jenny is a award-winning Young Adult writer who lives outside Belfast and is the mum of two preteens.

  • Kartik Raj - Kartik and his partner parent two kids, a teenager and a pre-teen. Both he and his partner have worked on a range human rights issues in the UK.

  • Laura Lundy - Laura is working on children's rights and trying to put it into practice at home for over 30 years with her four children.

We like to use Zoom as it has some great accessibility features. So that we can make the event as accessible as possible, please let us know as soon as possible (and at least 1 week before the event) if you have any communication or access needs. Please contact helen.flynn@justfair.org.uk.

Please note that we may be discussing how people have experienced violations of their rights at this session and some people may find this difficult.
